The greatest gift Jesus left us was the gift of himself in the Eucharist. St Luke tells us, “he took the bread, said the blessing, broke it and gave it to them saying, ‘This is my body, which will be given for you; do this is memory of me.’ And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which will be shed for you.’” (Luke 22:19-20)
Extraordinary Ministers of Communion are responding to their Baptismal Call to serve God’s people by assisting with the distribution of Holy Communion at Mass. The Extraordinary Minister shares the Bread of Life and the Chalice of Salvation with those gathered and by their presence and ministry make the outpouring of the gifts of the Holy Spirit visible within the life of our parish family.
