Confirmation

"When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together.  And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind and it filled the entire house in which they were.  Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each of them.  And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit."  (Acts 2: 1-4a)

Through the Sacrament of Confirmation, we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit and reaffirm our baptismal commitment to the Mission of Christ.  Confirmation is our share of Pentecost as the Holy Spirit comes to us enabling and empowering us to live as full members of the Catholic Church.

Confirmation imprints in the soul a character, a certain spiritual and permanent sign, and so can only be received once.  Confirmed persons are called to profess faith in Christ, and spread the Gospel message in accordance with their ability and circumstances of their lives.

At St. Cajetan, Confirmation is celebrated for those enrolled in St. Cajetan School or in St. Cajetan’s Religious Education program in eighth grade.  St. Cajetan Confirmation program is a two-year program that begins during the seventh grade.  Preparation for Confirmation includes prayer, study, Mass attendance and service hours.

Adults are confirmed in the Church through the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults process (RCIA).  For more information, please our pastor, Deacon Joe at 773-474-7814 or email at jroccasalva@cajetan.org for more information.
